Moving to Groundbase cloud
Your contacts come across with their phones, addresses, tags, custom fields and every note. It takes a few minutes, and Groundbase Free keeps working the whole time, so nothing is at risk.
1. Export your contacts
In Groundbase Free, open Settings → Backups & export and click Export for Groundbase cloud. Save the file somewhere you'll find it.
Using custom fields? Make the same fields in the cloud first (Settings → Fields & pipeline → Custom fields), with the same names. The import matches them by name.
2. Start your cloud account
Start a free trial. Plans and prices are on the pricing page.
3. Import
In the cloud app, go to Contacts → Import and drop in the file. The columns are matched for you. Check What this import will do, then click Import. Importing the same file twice doesn't make duplicates: people are matched by email, or by phone when there's no email.
4. Companies (if you use them)
In Groundbase Free, Settings → Backups & export → Export by entity → Companies. In the cloud, Companies → Import takes that file the same way. Your contacts are already linked to their companies by name from step 3.
5. Deals and tasks
The quickest way is to let your AI do it. Connect Claude or ChatGPT to your cloud account (Settings → AI integrations), export Deals or Tasks from Groundbase Free the same way, attach the file and say “add these deals to Groundbase”. It creates them one by one and tells you what it did. If you only have a few, adding them by hand is fine too.
Everything the import accepts and how matching works is in the help article Importing data. Questions? Email support@groundbasecrm.com.
